Trying to Manage at Two Fast Food Restaurants

The morning routine was a bit hectic and I got a flatbread with egg whites sandwich at Dunkin Donuts minus the cheese. Went there to get something small for both my younger daughter and me because we hadn't eaten at home -- too rushed. At lunch several staff members went to Popeyes chicken and you don't want to know how many calories there are in a piece of Popeyes chicken -- even a breast. I ended up at 1:00 p.m. with almost a day's calories consumed and gone. That's the bad news.

The good news was that I didn't eat anything that triggered a glycemic reaction so I will moderate the remainder of the day and stay within a weight loss calorie zone. But I won't do Popeyes again under any circumstances. The Dunkin Donuts sandwich wasn't bad though I am not sure about what's in the flatbread. I went directly from Popeyes to my desk and went to My Food Diary and logged in my food and was horrified; I can't imagine two chicken breasts being worth 700 calories plus. I took the breading off, but that didn't make enough difference to even think about.

Lesson learned (for the 1000th time): Plan food in advance and always have food on hand. Don't go out without a plan.

The day isn't lost, but it's only 1:30 and there are many hours left before bedtime -- so, finding the balance today will be more work than eating properly throughout the day was on the weekend.

I watched a movie with the kids last night and the result was -- as usual -- scramble to get to bed on time, not enough planning for the morning, trying to get everyone out the door quickly, and not being fully ready for the day. The key to all of this is getting organized the night before and making the time to do what needs to be done -- that means NO TELEVISION on school and work nights. It affects all of us. The movie was NOT worth it. Smile.

I kept to my coffee quota this a.m. again without a reaction.

I'll come back to post more at the end of the day. I didn't lose the day re: the "calorie account", but I lost the ability to eat 5 small meals and end up without any hunger at the end of the day. I had six pieces of store-bought sushi for dinner. It was really awful -- not fresh and the faux crab in the California roll was tasteless. I love sushi and it was a part of my last weight loss, but this wasn't good. It was a rushed dinner.

My beloved Abysinnian cat pushed out a screen and got out today; we've been looking for him. He has never been out, except for once -- when a t.v. technician let him out in June. We found him 3 days later and can only hope that he will get cold and return home. But his loss spoiled our evening and the children cried. I felt especially guilty because our other cat was sleeping in the window sill with the window partially open and I almost made her get down to close the window before going to work and then thought, "Oh no. That screen is secure. I ran out the door and let her enjoy he rmorning breezes and sunshine." Now I am again afraid that we've lost our companion cat who is annoyed about being asked to tolerate a stray cat that we rescued from the highway two weeks ago. She is very sweet and was enjoying her morning. Needless to say, she did NOT leave home and was still in the window sill when I got back at 6 p.m. But Akiki was gone. Sigh.

Another day behind me. I have meals planned for tomorrow and will not get into any commercial foods with heavy salt and calories. The idea of the calorie bank account as a sacred trust is very important. I will hope for the return of the cat. The journey continues.
